ACTIVITIES

As the mood takes you

Get moving, experience nature, try out new things and discover old ones. A’ Cràpa Mangia is the starting point for your personal vacation story. There are so many excursion destinations and activities to experience in Cilento that you might enjoy a few selected ideas and recommendations from us.

01

Walking, jogging & hiking

A beautiful route, not far from A’ Cràpa Mangia, leads from S. Marco (behind the harbor in the direction of Vallone Alto) along the sea to Punta delle Sirene on the Licosa peninsula. Or you can walk along Punta Tresino to the old village and church ruins of S. Giovanni.
If you prefer something a little more sporty, then the hike up Monte Stella with phenomenal views of Monte Gelbison is the right thing for you.
Autumn is the season for long walks on the beach. Whether towards Punta Tresino, on Pozzillo beach, between Santa Maria and San Marco, or from Ogliastro Marina towards Punta Licosa – they are all beautiful. The sunsets with views of the Amalfi Coast and Capri are particularly spectacular on a clear day.

02

On the road by bike and motorcycle

The hilly hinterland with little traffic and winding coastal roads will delight you, especially if you like cycling or motorcycling. Beautiful tours of all levels of difficulty, up to Giro d’Italia level, start directly from our estate. The 600 km long cycle route with 15 stages, “La Via del Silento”, also passes through Castellabate. It takes you on a journey of discovery through the Cilento.

03

Bathing beaches

The Pozzillo beach stretches between St. Maria and S. Marco with its fine sand and gently sloping shore. Here, as on all of Castellabate’s beaches, you will find the Bandiera Blu, the blue flag indicating very good water quality. Hire a sun lounger or parasol from Mauro, the owner of the La Tartaruga beach bar, or enjoy refreshments at one of the small beach stalls. You will find pebble bays at Punta Licosa.

04

Winter & Christmas

Activities Cilento
Even in winter, you can sometimes have lunch in the sun on the terrace, and the sunsets while strolling along the beach are almost overly kitschy at this time of year. In Castellabate, you will come across a living nativity scene with inhabitants from times long past and listen to Christmas concerts in the basilica. Plus cozy evenings by the fireplace and, of course, plenty of panettone. Fancy escaping the gray at home as a couple? We have prepared a suitable package for you.

05

Gastronomy & Cuisine

Activities - A‘ Cràpa Mangia
As we have no catering service apart from our courtyard bar, we will tell you our favorite places to eat delicious Cilentan food. To ensure that you only cook with the best local ingredients in your apartment, we also provide recommendations for the right local stores and our favorite traders at the weekly markets. Would you like to try your hand at making real Cilentan pasta or pizza? Then we can arrange a workshop for you in our large hall – with a real pizzaiolo or a nonna from our neighborhood, of course. In any case, just get in touch with Lucia.

06

Buffalo mozzarella

Activities - A‘ Cràpa Mangia

In Cilento, you will not only come across cows, but also plenty of water buffalo. They provide milk for the famous buffalo mozzarella. You should definitely try it – it is eaten fresh here, at room temperature and with a drop of olive oil if necessary. You can get very close to the buffalo and delicious dairy products at the organic buffalo farm Vannulo. We are happy to organize a tour of the dairy followed by a tasting.

07

Boat trips, diving and pescatourism

In summer, boat trips are offered in the port of S. Marco. If you prefer to spend the day on the water individually, then contact Lucia to simply hire our own boat with skipper.
The small bays at Punta Licosa have been declared an underwater marine park. Do you love diving? Then you’ve arrived in paradise.
It gets even more adventurous if you spend a night with fishermen at work and go fishing with them.

08

Excursions & culture

Just 16 km north of our country estate, you will come across the Greek temples of the Paestum archaeological site. The famous Pompeii is also just a day trip away, as are the island icons of Capri and Procida. Fancy a pizza alla Napolitana? Then try it right in the streets of the lively Mediterranean metropolis of Naples. On the way back to us, it’s worth stopping off in the small town of Vietri on the Amalfi Coast. Here you can admire or store for the artistically painted ceramics and tiles typical of the region.

09

Yoga

We are happy to provide you with equipment for your yoga session on our large communal terrace or elsewhere. We also regularly offer seminars that combine movement and self-awareness.

Not enough yet?

A concert in the temple complex of Paestum or would you prefer to enjoy the view from a hot air balloon? A walk with our donkeys in the olive grove, dancing and feasting at the Sagra in the neighboring village, playing a round of padel or tennis or simply making limoncello together? We still have lots of ideas for your vacation. Let’s find out together which ones are right for you.
