Hiking with pleasure – there’s no rush
The Amalfi Coast Path of the Gods is perfect for walking at your own pace. Many of our guests set off in the morning, pausing along the way to appreciate the view – without any time pressure.
This is the advantage to family accommodation away from the big hotels: after the hike, peace and quiet awaits, a feeling of arrival and space to breathe deeply.
Finding the starting point – easily accessible & relaxed
There are regular buses from the port in Amalfi to Agerola / Bomerano. Arriving by boat is a particularly nice way to start your daytrip.
Our personal tip:
Don’t rush this trail, that’s not the Cilentan way. It’s worth dedicating the whole day to this experience and then ending it comfortably on the estate.
Out and about on the Sentiero degli Dei
Directions to the Amalfi Coast Path of the Gods
Buses leave from the port of Amalfi in the direction of Agerola (blue buses). Get off in Bomerano at Piazza Capasso. South of the piazza (to the right of a café) you will already see the signs for “Sentiero degli Dei” – just follow these.
The signs guide hikers along a narrow road slightly downhill. After the signs, turn right and take the small bridge that leads to the upper road. Follow this road to the left and you’ll soon reach the start of the “Sentiero degli Dei” (a large sign is displayed on the wall). The road now becomes a hiking trail, and continues from here on. In places, the route leads through small, secluded woods where sheep and goats come to feed. As the path forks at the top of the pass, turn right downhill and then right again towards Nocelle. The trail now continues along the cliffs.
Follow all the signs towards Nocelle. The path is hilly, taking you over rocky outcrops and past a cave – a particularly staggering backdrop! Once you arrive in Nocelle, follow the steps until you reach a shelter with a water source. To the right of the steps is a beautiful large ceramic house sign for the “Casa degli Dei”.
Arriving in Nocelle or Positano
Once you arrive in Nocelle, you can decide:
- to continue comfortably by bus
- or take a brisk walk down to Positano
Now everyone has earned some rest in the peace of A‘ Cràpa Mangia after this eventful day.
Tip: You can find a good tour description in the Rother hiking guide: Gulf of Naples, Margrit and Jürgen Wiegand, 2007, ISBN 978-3-7633-4200-6.
