Olive harvest

When fall slowly arrives in Cilento, the time has come: in October we spread our nets and start harvesting the olives. This is still manual work and quite strenuous. Olive trees have been an important crop in the Mediterranean region for thousands of years. Harvesting together and thus continuing the old tradition is a very special experience. Somewhere under the wide sky, between branches and nets, a feeling of community and belonging is created that stays with you for a long time. Your joint effort will be rewarded at the end with the most delicious organic olive oil, where you really know where the olives come from and how the olive trees were cared for.

PROCESS

The olive harvest always takes place in calendar week 42.
For five days, you harvest together with a group of locals for three hours.
On three days, lunch is shared with the harvest group. After theharvest, the olives are immediately taken to the oil mill NUOVACILENTO – Cooperativa Agricola San Mauro, where they are pressed into oil. In the oil mill, you will learn all about the processing and maturing of the oil during an exclusive guided tour on the last day of the harvest. Afterwards, we dine together at the oil mill.
In addition to the harvest, you will of course have plenty of time to enjoy Cilento to the full. When it’s time to go home, a bottle of the best olive oil will travel home with you as a souvenir.

ATTENTION:
In some years, the harvest has to take place earlier due to weather conditions or there are weather or pest-related crop failures. In this case, we can only guarantee the food and the guided tour of the oil mill.
